NextJS Dashboard

Overview

NextJS Dashboard was built to explore the major architectural changes introduced with Next.js 13, particularly the new App Router and the shift toward React Server Components.

Coming from the previous Next.js architecture, where concepts such as getStaticPaths, getStaticProps, and getServerSideProps were commonly used for routing and data fetching, this project was an opportunity to understand the new application structure and development patterns.

Next.js 13 Exploration

The project explores several concepts introduced with the new Next.js architecture:

• App Directory for file-based routing
• React Server Components
• Async Components & Data Fetching
• Streaming
• Turbopack

The project was built using Next.js 13.4 to gain hands-on experience with these new concepts.

Authentication

The dashboard also integrates NextAuth for social authentication, allowing the project to demonstrate authentication within the newer Next.js application architecture.

Purpose

Rather than being a large production dashboard, the project was primarily created as a practical exploration of the changes introduced in Next.js 13.4 and the transition from the previous Pages Router architecture to the new App Router.
